Zelda Game Review: Phantom Hourglass

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was the first Zelda game I ever played. I didn’t get much satisfactory of it since I was new to the gaming world, but as my Zelda queue progressed, I started to think it was a great game (though Metroid Zero Mission whoops it’s tooshy).

Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker. Same animation, same characters, different system. Phantom Hourglass was Link’s first adventure on the Nintendo DS (and so far the only). I think that they made PH for DS because they finally realized that they had made a Zelda game for every other Nintendo system out there except the DS lol.

Link is sailing with Tetra (Zelda’s pirate figure) and her crew looking for a ‘ghost ship’. When they finally encounter the ship, Tetra hops aboard it. There is a scream and the Ghost Ship starts to move. Link jumps and grabs the edge of the ship but falls off. He then proceeds to be found by Ciela, a fairy, on Mercay Island.

This was my first DS game. I got it the first day I got my DS. Even though I didn’t really like it at the start, I ended up really enjoying it.

8.5/10

JMAP Productions

Well, since the information has been released, I have been OKed by ZeldaValley.net to bring you this info!

JMAP Productions’ DstCoyote22 and I have been planning a video for like the past two days. Last night DstCoyote22 brought the information to the production company’s boss, JMAP. JMAP agreed to take part in the project.

All the information that I will give is that there WILL be voices, no sticks, and plenty of action. Until then, just read the latest post here.

Zelda Character Review: Navi

NOTE THAT SOME OF THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS TO OCARINA OF TIME!!!

As a Zelda Character Review, I think we should first jump for Navi. Navi is quite possibly the worst chatacter in the franchise with her random outbursts of ‘Hey! Over Here! Listen! Hey!’ After about 1 hour you just want to chuck the N64 or the Gamecube across the room and blow the game altogether.

In the image above, Link seems oblivious to what annoyance lies ahead of him.

In Ocarina of Time, Navi comes to you because you have been summoned by the Great Deku Tree. A fatal move the GDT has done, a fatal move. Meanwhile, the GDT is dying because of Princess Gohma inside him. Let him die. Let him starve! He deserves the death sentece. Afterall, he sent you Navi.

Triforce624 Outsider Nintendo Review: FF2

These are new kinds of posts. The Triforce624 Outsider Nintendo Review means that I’ll review Nintendo games that aren’t Zelda. I know, it kind of sounds ill-fitted for Omega Zelda, but there’ll only be a few. So worry not.

Today I’ll be reviewing Final Fantasy 2, one of my favorite games (next to Chrono Trigger, of course).
You follow the adventures of Cecil, a Dark Knight in the kingdom of Baron who has recently been expelled from his position as Commander of the Red Wings. The Red Wings steals crystals for an unknown reason by the force of the king of Baron.

I haven’t played into the game enough to see any action of the plot, but here’s my SolarTurtle13 Game Attempt at it:

So what would I rate this game? 9/10.

Triforce624 Reviews: Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Let’s start off with the news: Thank you Shadow Luigi for finally writing that article. It was a good one. Mario64Mario, affiliation request accepted.

Review:

I just recently got my Link’s Awakening game right before I got Telefang for my GB, GBC, and GBA emulator called VisualBoyAdvance. (EDIT: It takes all of the GameBoy’s games from every GB console.) Anyway, I’d seen Jammo2000’s walkthroughs on Link’s Awakening and wanted it. Now, that I finally have it, I can review it.

First off, I love the sprites. Link’s sprites are awesome. I even have a sprite of the Link’s Awakening Link on the Multimedia page.

Second: The music is pwnage. The Ballad of the Windfish touches my heart somehow. And when it’s played at the end, to some people such as me it makes us think: “PLEASE LET THERE BE A SEQUEL. THIS GAME DESERVES A SEQUEL. PLEASE LET THERE BE A SEQUEL. WILL MARIN’S SEAGULL WISH EVER COME TRUE?!”

Third, Link’s Awakening was the game made directly before Ocarina of Time. Ocarina of Time has the characters Malon and Talon, while Link’s Awakening has the characters Marin and Tarin. Are you seeing the connection?

Fourth, it has it’s scenes. When Marin calls you down to the beach, she tells you about her seagull wish: To be carried away from Koholint Island by seagulls. The scenes with Marin are heartwarming anyway, but this one is my favorite.

In the beginning, you must find your sword, for you have washed up on strange and mysterious Koholint Island. You find your sword on the beach and soon after, you meet quite possibly the most annoying owl on earth stating that you must wake the Wind Fish if you ever hope to see home again. So, Link must collect the 8 Instruments to wake the Wind Fish. And there’s the occasional boss, the Moblins, all that jazz.

At the end, you wake the Wind Fish and find out that all of Koholint Island was a dream. When the Wind Fish awakens (hence the title: Link’s Awakening. But Link is unconscious so, its more of a dreamer’s dream.), all of Koholint Island goes away. Marin, Tarin, Animal Village, the egg, Koholint Island, all your friends you have come to know and love (except for the monsters, they’re better off dead) disappear while the Ballad of the Wind Fish plays.

SolarTurtle13 Game Attempts: Super Mario World

I’ve started doing little reviews of games. Here I did Super Mario World. Oh, and SolarTurtle13 is my YouTube account.

Super Mario World:

I was so desperate for music I found a random piece on the Internet with chickens singing. Listen.

Further more on the TPvsPH

I read Mario64Mario’s comment stating that I should’ve compared Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass. If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, read my last post.

Twilight Princess is a good game and all, but I’m more into the Overworld Zelda titles, such as Phantom Hourglass, Minish Cap, and A Link to the Past to name a few. In other words, I’m into normal Zelda games. Over half Zelda titles have been Overworld. The monsters in the 3D Zelda titles (Twilight Princess, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, and Ocarina of Time) are just a ton scarier not on Overworld. In the Overworld, you can see if a monster’s approaching behind you. In the 3D version of this, you can’t. You can only see in front of you. The hearts might as well go through a blender and be mashed to bits. Phantom Hourglass is so far the only at least semi-3D Overworld Zelda title out there.

So all in all, can you guess which one is my favorite and which one I prefer?

Phantom Hourglass, baby. Plus it’s the first Zelda I ever played. Except for LoZ: Lampshade of no Real Significance.

Not dead!

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. Just simply been really busy. So, welcome our new affiliate, Zelda Temple! Welcome! (kegs fly into the air spilling drinks all over. fireworks explode.)

Well, without further ado, here is my review of LoZ: Twilight Princess:

This is obviously (Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma, leaders of Zelda, said so) the most ambitious Zelda projects yet. The graphics are the best of any of the 3D Zelda titles. Though not better than say Minish Cap or Link’s Awakening (those are my favs) in my opinion, it is a game where you could probably plug away at it and end up finishing it in about 7 months.

The only bad part it is so 3D and top-notch that it leaves certain games such as Ocarina of Time and Phantom Hourglass. Sure, OoT’s time to shine has sort of gone and past, but Phantom Hourglass was just released last October. Before I got Twilight Princess I was furious that TP was getting all the attention when truly, PH should have hogged up all the attention for now cuz it was new. My only objection to the game.

My overall score? 8/10. That TPvsPH thing really knocked off a few points.
